Fantasy Artists to Follow

There’s a ton of great fantasy art out there on the internet. But some artists have that extra something that makes their work a cut above the rest. The following is a gallery I carefully cultivated featuring my favorite fantasy artists on Instagram.

(Don’t forget, some of these IG posts have more than one image. Click on the small arrow on the side of the image to see what’s next.)

Enjoy!

Julien Delval

With his classic oil painting style, Delval brings fantastical landscapes and cityscapes to life on an epic scale.

Tomas Duchek

In his portraits, Ducheck masterfully captures the essence of a character in a single image.

Le Yamamura

Along with being a skilled graphic artist, Yamamura has a fascinating imagination. In designing creatures, he breaks the conventional animal combos (i.e. lion + eagle = griffin) and appears to revel in the challenge of combining creatures like jellyfish and dragons.

Francesca Bearald

One of the great parts of reading fantasy is flipping to the first pages and discovering a map of a whole new world. Some maps are simple ink drawings, but Bearald creates maps that are stunning works of art.

Travis Deming

When it comes to fantasy art, dragons are probably the most featured out of all the possible subjects. (I mean, they’re my go-to creature when I’m in the mood to draw.) What makes Deming’s depictions unique is that he pushes beyond the usual snarling beast and gives his dragons personality and character.

Kristina Galajda

Using earthen tones, Galajda creates creatures (some cute, others creepy) that are obviously fantastical yet appear real enough to roam about our world.

Jakub Rozalski

Rolzalski has a talent for opening up windows into new worlds (especially a steampunk world that mirrors Eastern Europe during WWI). True to the impressionist style, he captures the visual impression of the moment–some tense with violence, some pastoral, and some just plain humorous.
